10-9--20 THOUGHTS

Many sections of God’s word supply good summary of God’s workings with us.  Paul addresses two congregations of the Lord’s Church that are near each other.  He has concern, yet he tries to be encouraging as he informs.  What Paul says is valuable for us today.

Col 2:1-10   For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face, 2  that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is,
Christ Himself, 3  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4  I say this so that no one will delude you with persuasive argument. 5  For even though I am absent in body, nevertheless I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good discipline and the stability of your faith in Christ. 6  Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7  having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. 8  See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. 9  For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10  and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;

As we have received Christ, so let us walk in Him! Christ is the center piece of God’s dealing with man.  There is concern that these would be “rooted and built up” rather than “deluded”.  The “knit together in love” is fellowship terminology.  Paul wants the very best and fullness for them.  He speaks of  “all the wealth that comes from...”  May we take the time this morning to absorb all that is being said above.

Col 1:27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is
Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Col 3:4 When
Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

My Prayer:
Oh God, center our lives on your dear son.  Thank you for Christ and what he means to us. We desire him within us always.  Help us to walk in Him.  Keep our faith stable, help us to be firmly rooted.  We desire the wealth that comes from a full knowledge of Christ.  May we overflow with gratitude for your great doings!   We long for eternity with you, Oh God.
In the name of Jesus              Amen
